Gaining Mass

The Best Youtube Channels for Mass Gaining Tips

Here are my recommendations for the best Youtube channels for mass gaining tips. I love to watch Youtube videos about building muscle while I work out. It feels more useful to me than just listening to a song or watching TV. In addition to picking up great mass gaining tips, there is something extremely motivating about seeing people ahead of you putting in hard work.

Athlean-X

Jeff is in amazing shape, and trains with many athletes. Although his channel doesn’t specifically focus on helping skinny people gain mass, it does have a lot of benefit for that crowd.

  • Many of his Youtube videos specifically call out mass gaining tips. He uses the term hypertrophy, which is just a technical way of saying “increase in muscle size”.
  • He is a trained physical therapist and adds a heavy dose of that perspective to his Youtube channel. That means there’s a lot of science based information with safety as priority.
  • He gets very granular about proper form for a vast range of exercises. Getting the form right keeps us safe and boosts our gains by maximizing each lift.

One thing that makes me chuckle is that Jeff calls himself naturally skinny. I would have loved to start off at his “skinny” frame.

Focus on Gaining Mass

A word of caution with this channel is that Jeff loves to introduce workout variations. Skinny people looking to build muscle quickly need to just focus on getting the big standard lifts right. Remember, German Volume Training doesn’t promote constantly switching exercises.

Goku Pump (and Broly Gainz)

Goku Pump is a really fun and high energy Youtube channel. Broly Gainz is a related channel. These two guys film a lot of their content together. Watching them will make you feel like you’re in a weight room with a bunch of friends cheering you on. Although this channel is also not focused 100% on helping skinny people with mass gaining tips, there are quite a few videos focused on building muscle.

Their angle in fitness is calisthenics, which is training focused on body weight exercises. While I don’t recommend that approach for skinny people trying to put on mass quickly, it is very motivating to see what’s possible without access to gym equipment. What I really like about Goku Pump is the focus on very controlled rest periods between sets and emphasizing volume of work for each exercise.

Starting Strength

Mark Rippetoe is an awesome lifting coach who has tons of content available. His focus is on strength training, which is not the same as mass gaining, although those things often happen together. Even so, what’s great is his detailed how to guide on critical lifts, such as the squat and Romanian deadlift. He also contributes to a variety of other Youtube channels with the same level of in-depth information.

Simeon Panda

Simeon puts out really great content frequently. He’s a beast and can easily hype you up for a lift. For those who do not have access to a gym, he does a lot of videos that discuss options to change up an exercise to make use of the equipment you do have access to. One of my favorite things about this channel is Simeon’s infectious positive messages.

Some of the key characteristics that make this a great channel include:

  • He focuses on safety first, including tips on warming up properly to avoid injuries that would keep you from the mass gaining lifts you need to do. Injuries can really hurt your progress.
  • He has great form tips that you can apply immediately to your training.
  • The videos are not 100% centered on training. He adds in a variety of content, such as sharing his favorite meals. For skinny people focused on gaining mass, training, eating, and rest have to work together.
  • Many of the videos in this channel have guests working out with Simeon, which adds a good mix of perspectives and opportunities to learn from others.

Jeff Nippard

This guy has an amazing physique. On top of that, he’s very intelligent and uses science to guide his training path. I find his videos to be very interesting, and like the Youtube channels above, he does touch on mass gaining tips throughout his content. My warning with this channel is that it’s not exactly the type of content most people are looking for during a training session. He’s not a very hype character, and most of his videos are long and can be drawn out. He get’s very technical and dives into studies and experiments to make conclusions. However, if you’re looking for a different approach to a Youtube fitness channel, and nerding out on the underlying science sounds interesting to you, give this channel a try.

What are your thoughts on the channels above? Are there any I missed? Let me know in the comments.
